It is situated in the midst of dense forests and is fed by the Thuppanadu River, a tributary of the Bharathapuzha River.

A small hydel project, with an installed capacity of 3 MW has been constructed by the Palakkad District Panchayat at Meenvallam. The waterfalls and the surrounding area are protected and maintained by Thudikkode Vana Samrakshana Samithi of Olavakkode Range in Palakkad Forest Division. The forests surrounding the waterfalls are an extension of the Silent Valley National Park. Swimming/bathing is possible at these falls.
